Velike nevolje za Webberovu ekipu
Porsche #1 se našao u ozbiljnim problemima sat vremena pre ponoći. Automobil je parkiran u garaži, a mehaničari su žurno pokušavali da otklone kvar. Međutim, posle mnogo izgubljenog vremena bilo je očigledno da se posada broj 1 neće boriti za pobedu.
Dok je jedan Porcshe tim razočarano pokušavao da se vrati na stazu i nekako dobije na brzini, u drugom je bilo razloga za zadovoljstvo.
Jani je preuzeo vođstvo ispred Toyotinih Conwaya i Buemija, dok se Audi #8 sa krugom zaostatka, nalazio na 4.poziciji
LMP2
U devetom satu trke vozač Alpine #36, Nicolas Lapierre, je zaostajao za vodećim Thirietom skoro 3 minuta. Lapierre je vozio neverovatno brze krugove i uspevao da značajno smanji razliku.
Ekpa KCMG ORECA je proglasila odustajanje sa trke, ali su se ipak vratili na stazu kao poslednji u LMP2 klasi.
Probleme je imala i ekipa Manor čiji je prednjideo automobila bio vidno oštećen zbog čega su rapidno gubili vreme po krugovima.
GTE
Ford i Ferrari su vodili žestoku borbu za čelnu poziciju u GTE klasi.
Oko ponoći, na 1.mestu je bio vozač Forda #68, dok je Ferrari obavio zamenu vozača i vratio se na 2.poziciju, uz zaostatak oko 17 sekundi.
Richard Westbrook je zaostajao za Vilanderom nepun minut, a vodećma je malo zasmetao izlazak bezbednosnog vozila zbog udesa veterana Dalla Lane.
